Some aircraft are manufactured, but Como likes to be on the cutting edge. Our newest unmanned aerial system features components that are strong, lightweight and made from mycelium – the vegetative part of a fungus. By manipulating the growth of these hyphae, we created strong materials lightweight enough to fly and pioneered the science of growing aerostructures. The Como Engineering Petrel small Unmanned Aerial System (sUAS) design is just the first in a line of high-tech manufactured goods that are safe for both people and the environment because they are already part of the environment. Nature provides the building blocks, we just guide it along.
